Arne wrote his first pirate book at the age of 12 – a collection of short stories about the “Robin Hood of pirates” that he tried, without much success, to sell to his classmates and school teachers.
He wrote his first non-fiction book about pirates 10 years later, with much more acclaim.
He was also involved in a few small shipwreck discoveries thanks to his in-depth research and knack for sorting fact from fiction when reading historical archives.
He then went on to consult for movie studios on major motion picture releases that involved pirates and sailors.
When he’s not researching pirates or hunting treasures, he spends his weekends with friends at the Treasure Coast Historical Re-Enactment Society – putting on educational shows for kids (and grown-ups too).
